Back from Mexico, part one: The Pros and Cons

Pros:

• Carne Asada.
• The sky over Mexico at night.
• In-n-Out Burger in San Diego rocks, especially since the manager gave us free drinks.
• The drive from San Diego to Yuma, Arizona is beautiful.
• The innocence of children.
• If you’re standing in shade the weather is almost perfect.
• Singing Sunday School songs on the Sorry Little Bus.
• Breaking my glasses gives me an excuse to buy contacts.
• Spending 24 hours a day with Apexers for 8 days straight.

Cons

• In Mexico, you can’t flush your toilet paper; you have to throw it in the trash can or the toilet will clog. This is harder than it sounds.
• Mexican showers.
• Not thinking to pack chap stick or a camera. (Kudos to Julie and Nicole for getting double prints of their photos for me)
• Coming home to over a hundred emails thanks to spam, work, and mailing lists.
• Not being able to speak Spanish except for a few phrases. Although, “no mas” (no more) comes in very handy when you’ve got 6 or 7 kids wrestling with you
• Not packing any music. Although our praise band played almost every night, which was very cool. On second thought, that was probably a good idea… I can listen to music any time; how often am I in Mexico with all these cool people?
• Missing a service @ Apex…the first one with the new sound system, no less.
• Spending 24 hours a day with Apexers for 8 days straight.
