Make available abortive medication to prevent abortion? Doesn’t make moral sense to me. A lesser wrong is still a wrong, no?
It doesn’t cause an abortion, it prevents the sperm from fertilizing the egg; no different than a condom.
…or maybe not:
“Plan B does not prevent fertilization, so a genetically complete human zygote (the earliest embryonic stage) is formed from the fusion of sperm and egg. To survive, though, the zygote must be implanted in the uterine wall, so that it can receive nutrients via the placenta. Plan B interferes with the release and implantation process, so the zygote fails to implant and dies. This is something that happens accidentally in a certain percentage of fertilizations, and the mother generally never finds out. For this reason, people argue that taking Plan B is not a type of abortion. However, abortion means terminating a pregnancy by causing the death of the fetus, and clearly that’s what Plan B does. So I don’t buy the argument that Plan B will prevent abortions.” (>>)
